Strategic Solutions® partnered with Hampton Township on its first comprehensive rewrite of zoning and land use ordinances in more than 20 years. This effort built on the township’s 2021 Comprehensive Plan, which identified four priority areas: connectivity and trails, the appearance of Route 8, conservation of natural resources, and township-community relations. Each of these themes was addressed throughout the updated ordinances.
A major focus of this project was Route 8, the township’s primary commercial and residential corridor. Although vital to the community, the corridor faces challenges, including aging buildings; inconsistent visual character; and limited pedestrian and bicycle access. The new ordinances are designed to guide thoughtful, community-supported development by regulating land uses, building scale and placement, and parking requirements.
Hampton Township adopted its new zoning ordinance and subdivision and land development ordinance (SALDO) in April 2026.
